My Story

My Journey from Marketing Assistant to Fractional CMO for Growing Businesses

In 2008, the global financial crisis made it almost impossible to find a job as a fresh graduate in Italy.

With a degree in Economics and Business Management, I quickly realized I needed to look elsewhere for opportunities.

So, I moved to London, not really knowing what to expect, but ready to give it a shot.

My first gig? Waiting tables at Rossopomodoro (a pizzeria chain).

It wasn’t what I had in mind after graduation, but I saw it as a chance to learn.

But apart from serving pizza to Hugh Grant in the Chelsea restaurant, this wasn't very exciting.

I’d always been interested in marketing, so one day I approached the marketing director and asked if I could help out with marketing for free.

That small step gave me a foot in the door.

From Waiting Tables to Launching Restaurants

I jumped right in, helping with the launch of several new Rossopomodoro locations across London.

It was hands-on experience, but I knew the restaurant world wasn’t where I wanted to stay long term. I wanted to go deeper into marketing.

So, I spent my nights teaching myself SEO and digital marketing, preparing to eventually move on to bigger opportunities.

The Mentor Who Changed My Approach to Marketing

My efforts paid off when I met Robbie Abed, who became a mentor and gave me my first big break.

He hired me as the Head of Traffic Growth at YML, a digital product agency in the Silicon Valley!

Robbie changed the way I thought about marketing.

His motto was simple: “Simplify.”

That one word transformed the way I approached every project. Instead of overcomplicating strategies, I learned to focus on clarity and action—keeping things efficient and straightforward.

Rebuilding After Losing Everything in the Pandemic

Just as I was finding my stride, the COVID-19 pandemic hit, and like so many others, I lost all my clients.

It was a tough blow, but with the skills and experience I had built up, I knew I could start over.

And that’s when the opportunity with BlueLabel came along.

Driving Growth and Innovation at BlueLabel

I joined BlueLabel as the Marketing Director, tasked with leading their shift from app development to digital transformation agency.

This was a huge challenge, but also an exciting one.

One of the highlights was driving a $5 million increase in revenue in just one year.

We repositioned the brand, redesigned the website, and launched targeted campaigns that helped the company gain traction.

We also picked up several prestigious awards along the way, including Webby Awards and INC 5000 recognition.

Learning to Lead and Make Strategic Decisions

Working closely with the CEO at BlueLabel over the past two years was a turning point for me.

I wasn’t just executing marketing campaigns anymore: I was involved in strategic decision-making that shaped the future of the company.

This experience taught me how to lead, manage growth, and make decisions that impact the direction of the business.

It’s also what led me to take on my current role as a Fractional CMO, where I work with growing companies to create tailored marketing strategies.
